BOLERO Y MÁS

Bolero y Más plays classic Latin dance music and Latin jazz, for dancing or for listening. Rooted in the great Latin music of Cuba and New York, the band performs salsa, son Cubano, bolero, guajira, cha-cha-cha, and Latin jazz, featuring award-winning singer and composer Raquel Berlind. They perform original compositions as well as the music of the Buena Vista Social Club, Celia Cruz, Beny More, Eddie Palmieri, and Orquesta Aragon. From lively salsa and son to romantic ballads, Bolero y Más embodies the excitement, elegance and beauty of great Latin music. The band also plays background music for dinners and receptions.

Since 1999, Bolero y Más has performed on Princess Cruise Lines in Mexico and the Caribbean, at the San Jose Jazz Festival, and at numerous festivals, ballrooms and wineries from Monterey Bay to Calistoga, and all over the San Francisco Bay Area. Raquel’s cd, Soy Filipina, was released in 2006 and has been played on Bay Area radio stations incuding KCSM and KPOO, and received a rave review from Bay Area icon Chuy Varela in Latin Beat magazine.

The band also has an instrumental repertoire appropriate for cocktail hours and quieter portions of an event, and is available with 4, 5, or 6 pieces.
